What Is Citizen Journalism?

I get that question a lot. As you might expect, there are many definitions of "citizen journalism", but I think the best one comes from Jay Rosen, a journalism professor at New York University and one of the earliest proponents of citizen journalism. Rosen's definition:

"When the people formerly known as the audience employ the press tools in their possession to inform one another, that’s citizen journalism."
