Letterpressed card to be distributed at Hothouse
The Pittsburgh Citizen, the region's only news site and publishing platform developed by and for citizen journalists, will debut its website at Hothouse, The Sprout Fund's annual summer benefit party to be held at Walnut Capital's new Bakery Square development.
The theme for this year's Hothouse is the art of Joseph Cornell. In keeping with Cornell's use of Victorian bric-a-brac in his art, we will be live-printing souvenir cards about The Pittsburgh Citizen on a 19th century foot-powered letterpress (see sample at left). The cards will also contain information about how you can help us report live from Hothouse.
In order to demonstrate our platform and as part of its mission to empower citizens to report on news that matters to them and their community, The Pittsburgh Citizen will be live-tweeting from Hothouse from 7:00 p.m. to midnight, and we need your help.
By tagging your tweets from the event with #hothouse, you can help us provide readers with live, unfiltered coverage of the event, create a record of Hothouse 2009, and help us spread the word about The Pittsburgh Citizen!
During the event, you'll be able to see all of the tweets tagged with #hothouse on the Hothouse 2009 Twitter Feed.
