About Us

The Pittsburgh Citizen (formerly PittPoint) is a new hyperlocal news platform specifically designed for citizen journalists interested in telling new kinds of stories about public policy and civic affairs in the Pittsburgh region. Combining offline training and editorial support with online resources, including our Virtual Reporter’s Notebook™ and the latest technologies for sharing audio, video, and photography, The Pittsburgh Citizen provides citizen journalists with all the tools necessary for producing high-quality journalism.

In addition to featuring original reporting on issues relevant to the Pittsburgh region, The Pittsburgh Citizen will also aggregate citizen-created media from around the web. Join our growing ranks of citizen journalists and cover stories that matter to you and your community!

The Pittsburgh Citizen is published by The Public Square Project and is supported in part by a Seed Award from The Sprout Fund.
